Robert Sweo, Assistant Dean of Business Management Studies in the School of Undergraduate Studies (SUS) at University of Maryland University College (UMUC), supervised the development of the HSBC — North America Military Financial Education Center.
Joseph Whelan, Chair; Accounting, Economics, and Finance, SUS, UMUC, served as project director and supervised the content of the site.
Emily Medina, Instructional Designer, Course Development, SUS, UMUC, served as project manager and coordinated the flow of materials through the development and production process.
Sharon Goodall, Multimedia Specialist, Course Development, SUS, UMUC, served as technical coordinator and provided programming for this project.
Marky Campbell is currently the Director of Operations, UMUC Regional Programs and is serving as the military consultant on the Household Military Financial Educational Resource Center. Mrs. Campbell has been a military spouse for 32 years. In that role she has relocated 22 times, to include moves to Taif, Saudia Arabia; Keflavik, Iceland; Ramstein and Bitburg Germany and Aviano, Italy. As a spouse volunteer, she has served as the advisor to Family Support and Family Advocacy boards and Officer and Enlisted Wives Clubs. In addition to her volunteer work, Mrs. Campbell was employed as a Department of Defense schoolteacher and as a DoD Educational counselor. In 1995 she and her husband were selected to receive the Air Force Jerome F. O’Malley award, which is awarded to the Wing Commander and Spouse who best exemplify the highest ideals and positive leadership in a key Air Force position.
Kevin Michel, Ed.D., Collegiate Professor of Business and Management Studies, UMUC, has taught Accounting and Finance on a part-time and full-time basis since 1981. He is a CPA as well as a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and CFM (Certified Financial Manager). In addition to seven years auditing and consulting for not-for-profit and government entities, he worked for ten years as a Vice President at Merrill Lynch. For two years, he was employed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he is currently a Task Force Chair. As a volunteer, Dr. Michel was a Trustee and Treasurer of public libraries in New York and New Jersey, including president of the Plainsboro Free Public Library. He currently volunteers in the Learn to Earn Center of the Harford County Public Library.
Bob Sacks, a licensed insurance broker since 1971 in many states, and employee benefits consultant to various unions since 1973, has authored or edited numerous consumer guides on various types of insurance and annuities, studies comparing the value of similar types of insurance and annuities to each other, and financial awareness bulletins published by the largest teacher labor union. He has also designed and evaluated large health plan Requests for Proposal covering tens of thousands of employees plus dependents, and negotiated numerous health plans on behalf of various unions. He is President of a Maryland insurance company and a Maryland Third Party Administrator of self-insured health plans. He is accredited by the Maryland Insurance Administration to teach Continuing Education for the credits required to be licensed for life and health insurance and annuity sales. He is a frequent speaker at large employee benefit conferences sponsored by the AFL-CIO and the National Education Association. He is a Member of the Self-Funding Academy, the National Association of Dental Plans, the National Association of Health Underwriters, the Maryland Association of Health Underwriters, and the Baltimore Health Underwriters Association.
Douglas L. Terwilliger is a bargaining unit member of NEA's Member Benefits Corporation, the wholly owned subsidiary of the National Education Association. As a Senior Financial Analyst, Mr. Terwilliger examines new and existing personal insurance and financial services programs. Mr. Terwilliger is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Business and Management at UMUC. He teaches four undergraduate courses and was the course content writer for the online sections of risk management and personal financial management. Mr. Terwilliger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in consumer economics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Master of Science degree in technology management from UMUC. He is also an Associate in Insurance Services.
Leslie E. Woodruff, Esq. is a principal in the law firm Campbell & Woodruff, P.C. located in Fairfax, Virginia. She is admitted to the Bar in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Ms. Woodruff practices tax and asset protection planning as part of client's lifetime and estate planning. She assists owners of privately held businesses in developing comprehensive succession plans. She has a special interest in assisting families with disabled children plan for the children' s future needs. Ms. Woodruff teaches Wills, Trusts & Estates, Estate & Gift Taxation, and Estate Planning as an adjunct professor at George Mason University School of Law. She frequently lectures to professional and civic groups and publishes articles in professional tax journals on topics in her practice areas. Ms. Woodruff received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Catholic University of America, a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University, and a Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law.

Along with writing and producing the financial video series for the HSBC — North America Military Financial Education Center, Ms. Rich writes, produces, and edits video for museums, artists, and schools.
